Parish Health Program
The Parish Health Program promotes the holistic health of our parishioners in body, mind, and spirit. Blood Pressure screenings are given every second weekend of the month after all Masses.
The Parish Health Program Ministry at St Anthony Parish is guided by the Parish nurse (RN) and consists of volunteers, including RNS and paraprofessionals experienced in the health field, who are committed to promoting health and wellness in the parish community. The Parish nurse respects the dignity and worth of all persons and fosters an attitude of individual responsibility for a person’s own health. The Parish Nurses are licensed professional and parish ministers who use multidisciplinary approach to their healing mission. The mission is to help the parish community achieve optimal health, treating the whole person, body, mind and spirit through holistic and traditional means.
Activities provided by this ministry include monthly blood pressure screenings following all masses on the second full weekend of each month, Heartsaver CPR/AED training, First Aid training, programs with professional speakers on a variety of health topics, such as stroke awareness, dementia awareness and advanced care planning. Future programs in the Fall include a diabetes awareness which will include A1 screenings.
We welcome interested, caring nurses to contact the ministry to learn how they can share their knowledge and experience to complement our ministry. It is very gratifying to support our parish community and strengthen our parish’s role in health and healing.
Your commitment, time wise is what ever you can offer. If you are a health care professional who is interested in volunteering, please call the parish office, 203-758-4056 to leave your contact information and a nurse will contact you.
