Summer 2023 Update: Altar Server Training in September

Our first session of Altar Server training was a success! We welcome our new servers and thank the others who attended as a refresher! If you couldn’t make the first session, here is another opportunity for our youth to consider becoming an Altar Server. Current servers are asked to attend a session as well. Serving God as an Altar Server is a wonderful way to grow in faith as well as in responsibility, friendship, and other virtues. Requirements are that you have made your First Holy Communion and can commit to serving once a month at a Mass convenient to your schedule Agnone interested, who is out of high school, can join as an adult server and attend a different session. Part 1 of this session will be September 6th, Part 2 is September 13th both from 5:00 – 6:30 and include pizza. Parents are encouraged to attend the training and have pizza as well. Servers are needed at all Masses but there is a particular need for the 7:30 AM Mass on Sunday.
- The training usually includes two sessions in the evening which last about 2 hours each.
- Servers then work as novices with experienced servers until they are ready to be placed on the schedule.
- Families may choose their primary Mass time. Once their training is completed servers usually serve once every three weeks.
- Servers must be of age to enter the 4th grade and must have received their first Holy Communion. Many of our altar servers stay on in the ministry until they graduate from high school.

Adult altar servers assist at weekday Mass, Sunday 7:30 Mass, and at funerals.
