Sacristan Ministry

Volunteers in this ministry have a special devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Liturgy of the Mass.

Sacristans work at the direction of the Pastor to carry out the duties necessary for the proper celebration of the Mass.

Sacristans have three main roles: Mass preparation and clean up, security of the sacristy, and most importantly, the Eucharist, and assisting with Mass coordination. The duties for this ministry include arranging the books needed for the celebration, marking all of the readings, and preparing everything else needed for the celebration, such as cruets, chalices, ciboria, linens, oils, and candles. Additionally, after the Mass, they are responsible for the proper cleaning and care of the sacred vessels.

Sacristans generally commit to one Mass each weekend or on weekdays. Training is provided.
