We are all saddened by the loss of David Byrne. When it came to his position, David wore many hats. His official title was Volunteer Coordinator but the job had encompassed a variety of roles. One component was to train new altar servers and create the service schedules for them, the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and the readers. In addition, he worked with the Stewardship Committee to help foster the various ministries at St. Anthony. The Liturgical segment of his position was as Master of Ceremonies at Feast Day and other special Mass Celebrations. David had been a parishioner at St Anthony since 1990 and joined the parish staff in 2009. Seeing how strongly others express their faith through the many ministries continually inspired David and had increased his own faith, “We have many parishioners who live their faith by helping others and by contributing to the parish life of our church. I also love our Catholic liturgy, I feel blessed and honored to be allowed to participate so intimately with the Mass, especially during the most important feast days.” We were blessed by David’s presence as part of our staff, and we know that he left a lasting impression on many volunteers, especially our young altar servers. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, let the perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
