High School
The High School Youth Ministry Program at St. Anthony Church focuses on each
student's coming to a better understanding of his or her own faith. This includes
focusing on what it means to have a relationship with God, and how to encourage and
develop that fellowship. We assume that at this point in the student’s religious
education, that they have a basic understanding of the tenants of our Catholic
faith.
All students will now be given a test that encompasses all areas of our Faith at the
end of their 8th grade year. A failing grade will require further studying and retake
of the test. If the student fails again, special arrangements will be made for
individualized study in order to enter the High School program in the fall.
The program is open to students in the 9th-12th grades and meets on various
evenings, beginning in September/October and running through May. Students take
at least the equivalent of 2 credits per year in 9th and 10th grade Young
adults/teens seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation must be enrolled in the High
School Program and have taken the 3 required credits (Gospels, Morality, and
Catholicism) the equivalent of 3 elective credits.
Classes: Each year's program offers one credit classes divided into 3, 4, or 5-week
sessions. Sessions focus on different topics, but each meeting includes an aspect of
our faith and how it relates personally to the lives of the youth.
We also offer single evening sessions (1/3 credit) on a variety of topics as well as
book and film discussion groups.
Focus on Faith Sessions There are 4 required large group meetings each year
involving all students .
The program also includes spiritual events with the Parish Community as well as
retreats.
